Participation of Prolepsis in the Second International Conference on Rural Health

A hospital-based case-control study was carried out in Athens, Greece, using a standardized questionnaire. The sample was extensively interviewed regarding demographic, socioeconomic and biomedical characteristics including residential, occupational, personal and family medical histories, dietary and smoking habits, exposure to occupational and agricultural related chemicals. The results of the research suggest that an increased occupational exposure to solvents, varnishes and sprayed paints may contribute to the causation of haematological diseases.

The Conference covered also many other vital issues concerning health of rural populations focusing on occupational and environmental health risks in these areas.
