New book titled “Promoting Health for Working Women”

Associate Professor Athena Linos of the Medical School of the University of Athens and Professor Wilhelm Kirch of the University of Dresden have edited a new book published by Springer Publications titled "Promoting Health for Working Women". The book is the end result of an EU funded project which also received funding from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation the HPROWOMEN project - Development of Education and Training Tool for Workplace Health Promotion focusing on Women.

June 5, 2008: World Environment Day

World Environment Day is celebrated each year on June 5th. The theme of the World Environment Day this year is climate change and especially the transition to a low carbon economy and lifestyle. New Zealand, and specifically Wellington, will host the international celebrations for this day with the slogan "Kick the CO2 Habit. Towards a low carbon economy". Recognising that climate change is becoming a very important issue of our era, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) encourages countries, companies and communities to focus on greenhouse gas emissions and ways to reduce them.

Results of the DIRERAF Project

The Institute of Preventive Medicine Environmental and Occupational Health was one of the partners of the three-year long European project "DIRERAF-Development of Public Health Indicators for Reporting Environmental/ Occupational Risks Related to Agriculture and Fishery". The project's outputs and recommendations were presented with great success at a press conference that took place in Athens, on January 14.
