The epidemiological study in the region of Oinofyta

Prolepsis Institute’s scientific team has contributed to the implementation of the epidemiological study in the region of Oinofyta. The epidemiological study focuses on the consumption drinking water by the local residents of Oinofyta region until 2009. The study examines the association between the exposure to possible forms of pollution and cause-specific mortality, population-based morbidity by disease category and pulmonary function of children.

The results of the study have a significant impact on the scientific community and have been used, inter alia, as evidence from the California Environmental Protection Agency (2011) on establishing a limit of hexavalent chromium content in drinking water (Public Health Goals).
