Statistical and Qualitative Analysis
Statistics is one of the standard tools of most research programs implemented by Prolepsis Institute and, therefore, the Institute employs scientific staff specialized in the research areas of statistics, biostatistics and epidemiology.
Quantitative research is combined with qualitative analysis, in order to produce comprehensive scientific findings.
Prolepsis Institute’s statistics department, beginning with the design of the study, the measurement tools and the questionnaires, is responsible for designing the database, as well as data collection, input, processing, quality control and encoding.
Then, making use of statistical software packages, such as SPSS, STATA, R, SAS, MATLAB, etc., the department analyzes the data and draws up the deliverables, as well as relevant scientific publications.
Moreover, consultation is provided to researchers, professionals active in the health sector, to public entities and companies.
Indicatively, statistical analyses include the following:
- Descriptive presentation of data.
- Parametric and non-parametric tests of hypotheses and independence.
- Analysis of variance (ANOVA) and of covariance (ANCOVA).
- Prevalence, attributable risk, relative risk, odds ratio.
- Diagnostic measurements, sensitivity, specificity, predicted values, ROC curves.
- Survival analysis.
- Multiple and multivariate regression, logistic regression, factor analysis.
- Multi-level modeling and Cluster analysis.
- Non-parametric modeling, such as tree models, splines, threshold models, etc.
- Bayesian statistics and variable selection.
Moreover, Prolepsis Institute has scientific staff experienced in applying qualitative analyses through the methods of focus group discussions and in-depth personal interviews. More particularly, the scientific staff designs and implements qualitative studies, as well as analyzes and presents the qualitative data of European and national public health programs.
